Within framework of domestic and international cooperation programmes, KU is active in the field of basic and applied research and innovation, covering a broad professional spectrum. The multidisciplinary research work conducted in the areas of agricultural, veterinary, medical, environmental, and food sciences focuses on the entire chain of animal food production, the implementation of the “from field to consumer” approach, the basics of animal feeding and nutrition to ensure quality and safe production, and the environmental impact of animal food production. The Department of Animal Nutrition involved in this programme has a significant research activity in the determination of nutrient digestibility in different segments of the gastrointestinal tract of monogastric farm animals, nutrient metabolism, and modelling animal production.
